1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Doortagg mobile application, website, and services (collectively, the "Service") provided by M Technology Ltd, a company registered in Guernsey (Company #51663) ("we", "us", or "our").

By using our Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. Our Service

Doortagg is an NFC-enabled doorbell system that allows visitors to:

  • Tap an NFC tag to notify you of their arrival
  • Send you text messages and voice notes
  • Engage in real-time two-way messaging during active sessions
  • Leave asynchronous messages when you're unavailable

You receive these notifications via push notifications, SMS, and optionally WhatsApp.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Doortagg. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

4. Account Registration

To use Doortagg, you must create an account by providing:

  • A valid email address
  • Your name (optional but recommended for household sharing)

We use passwordless authentication:

  • Mobile app: 6-digit verification code sent to your email
  • Web dashboard: Magic link sent to your email

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your email account and all activities under your Doortagg account.

5. NFC Tags

5.1 Physical Product

Doortagg NFC tags are physical products sold separately at £9.95 per tag (or local currency equivalent). Tags are shipped to your address and remain your property.

5.2 Tag Activation

When you purchase a tag:

  • Your account receives a tag activation quota
  • You can activate the tag to your account via the mobile app
  • Once activated, the tag is linked to your account and can receive ring events

5.3 Tag Status

Tags have three statuses:

  • RESERVED: Purchased but not yet activated
  • ACTIVE: Activated and receiving notifications
  • PAUSED: Temporarily not receiving notifications

5.4 Ownership and Transfer

You own the physical NFC tag. If you sell your property or move, you can deactivate and transfer the tag to another user through our support team.

6. Subscription Plans

6.1 BASIC (Free)

  • Activate 1 tag
  • Receive ring notifications
  • Text messaging only (no voice notes)
  • No household sharing

6.2 PRO (Paid Subscription)

Price: £3.99/month (GBP), $4.99/month (USD), or €4.99/month (EUR)

Features:

  • Unlimited tag activations
  • Voice note messaging (up to 2 minutes per message)
  • Household sharing (add family members to receive notifications)
  • WhatsApp integration
  • Priority support

6.3 Free Trial

New PRO subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. You can cancel anytime during the trial without charge.

6.4 Billing and Renewal

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly
  • Auto-renewal occurs at the end of each billing period
  • Billing is managed through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
  • You can cancel auto-renewal at any time via your app store account settings

6.5 Cancellation

To cancel your PRO subscription:

  • iOS: Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → Doortagg → Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → Doortagg → Cancel Subscription

You'll retain PRO access until the end of your current billing period. After cancellation, you'll be downgraded to BASIC.

7. Refunds

Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies:

For physical NFC tags, we offer refunds within 30 days of purchase if the tag is returned unused and in original condition.

8. Household Sharing (PRO Only)

PRO subscribers can add family members or household members to receive notifications from their tags.

  • OWNER: Primary owner who manages subscribers
  • FAMILY_MEMBER: Full access to notifications and messaging
  • GUEST: Temporary access

Each subscriber can individually pause or resume notifications for specific tags.

9. User Content and Messages

9.1 Message Storage

We store messages and voice notes for:

  • Active sessions: 10 minutes (then auto-expire)
  • Async messages: Until you mark them as read or delete them
  • Voice notes: Stored as audio files (M4A format for compatibility)

9.2 Content Restrictions

You may not use Doortagg to send or receive:

  • Illegal content
  • Harassing, threatening, or abusive messages
  • Spam or unsolicited advertising
  • Malware or malicious code
  • Content that infringes intellectual property rights

9.3 Content Moderation

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

10. WhatsApp Integration

PRO subscribers can enable WhatsApp notifications by providing a valid phone number in E.164 format (e.g., +447911123456).

How it works:

  • When someone rings your doorbell, we send you a WhatsApp message via our official business account
  • You can customize the message template
  • Standard WhatsApp data charges apply

We use WhatsApp Business API. We do not store WhatsApp message history or read your WhatsApp conversations.

11. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Key points:

  • We store your email, name, and phone number
  • We log ring events, messages, and voice notes
  • We store push notification tokens for iOS/Android devices
  • We use Prisma Accelerate (PostgreSQL) for data storage
  • We do not sell your data to third parties

12. Service Availability

12.1 Uptime

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. Service may be interrupted for:

  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Emergency repairs
  • Third-party service outages (Vercel, Prisma, Apple/Google push services)
  • Force majeure events

12.2 Notification Delivery

We cannot guarantee instant delivery of notifications due to factors beyond our control (network conditions, device settings, app store push service reliability). We are not liable for missed notifications.

13. Limitations of Liability

IMPORTANT: Doortagg is a notification and communication tool, not a security system.

  • We are not responsible for preventing theft, property damage, or personal injury
  • We do not provide emergency response services
  • For emergencies, always call local emergency services (999, 911, etc.)
  • We are not liable for missed visitors, failed deliveries, or security incidents

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

14. Third-Party Services

Doortagg integrates with third-party services:

  • Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) - iOS notifications
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) - Android notifications
  • WhatsApp Business API - WhatsApp messaging (PRO only)
  • Stripe - Payment processing for physical tags (future feature)
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store - Subscription billing

Your use of these services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party service outages or data handling.

15. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Doortagg Service (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, and software) are the exclusive property of M Technology Ltd and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service without our written permission.

16. Account Termination

16.1 By You

You can delete your account at any time:

  • Mobile app: Settings → Account → Delete Account
  • Email: support@doortagg.com with subject "Delete My Account"

Upon deletion:

  • Your account data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Your tags will be deactivated
  • Active subscriptions will be canceled (no refund for current period)
  • Messages and voice notes will be deleted

16.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • You engage in fraudulent activity
  • You abuse the Service or harass other users
  • Required by law

We will notify you via email before suspension unless prohibited by law or immediate action is required for security reasons.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be effective:

  • Immediately for new users upon sign-up
  • 30 days after posting for existing users (we'll email you)

Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Guernsey. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Guernsey.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may also have consumer rights under local law that cannot be waived by these Terms.

20. Miscellaneous

20.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and M Technology Ltd regarding the Service.

20.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

20.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

20.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction.

By using Doortagg, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
